Prof. Hanene AKROUT
Hybrid treatment based on advanced electrochemistry, offering a sustainable approach to water reuse and pollution prevention
Short Biography:
Professor Hanene Akrout is a full professor specializing in electrochemistry, wastewater treatment, and resource valorization. She currently serves as the head of the Laboratory of Wastewater and Environment (LabEaue) at the Centre for Water Research and Technologies (CERTE) in Tunisia.
She holds a PhD in Electrochemistry and Process Engineering from IINPG Grenoble (France) and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Tunis El Manar (Borj Cedria), along with a habilitation in Chemistry obtained in 2007.
Her research focuses on corrosion, advanced oxidation processes, and electrode development, with recognized expertise in sustainable wastewater management and clean production.
Professor Akrout has authored 63 scientific publications in the frame of many collaborations, and has led or contributed to several valorization projects (PNRI, PRF, ..) as well as numerous European research programs, including FP7, PRIMA, Horizon Europe, and Interreg MED. Key projects include InTheMED, Sustain-COAST, CBWRMED, AGREEMED, FP4BATIW, and more recently, MATRIX—aimed at improving the sustainable management of unconventional water resources in the Mediterranean, with a focus on industrial and agricultural applications.
She is also the holder of two national patents and actively contributes to training and knowledge-sharing activities, particularly through the REACT association.
