Prof. Toufik BOUSHAKI
Ammonia Combustion
Short Biography:
Since 2025, Toufik Boushaki has been a Full Professor at the University of Orléans and CNRS ICARE in France. From 2010 to 2025, he served as an Associate Professor at the same institution, teaching combustion, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and building thermal systems. In 2022, he was a visiting scholar in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for a six-month appointment.
After earning a Ph.D. in 2007 from the CORIA Laboratory (INSA Rouen) with a dissertation on passive and active control of oxy-fuel combustion in multiple-jet burners, he worked as a temporary research and teaching assistant at the University of Rouen (2006–2007), a contractual researcher at IMFT, INP Toulouse (2008–2009) on alternative-fuel combustion for internal combustion engines in partnership with Renault, and a contractual researcher at CORIA (2009–2010) focusing on acoustics and combustion.
His research interests include turbulent combustion, plasma-assisted combustion, and biomass valorization. He has supervised or co-supervised 11 Ph.D. students and has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He has also participated in numerous national and European research projects as well as industrial research contracts.
Toufik Boushaki has been actively engaged in professional and scientific organizations. He served on the Board of the French Combustion Section of the Combustion Institute from 2018 to 2022 and was a member and secretary of the French committee of the International Flame Research Foundation (IFRF) from 2020 to 2023. He has been a member of the Association des Ingénieurs et techniciens en Climatique, Ventilation et Froid (AICVF) since 2012. In publishing, he sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Journal of Heat and Technology (since 2017), the Topics Board of Fluids (since 2020), and the Editorial Boards of Fuels (since 2021) and Energies (since 2023). He has also contributed to the scientific committees of numerous international conferences, including DZPOWER’21 (2021), INFUB (2018, 2020, 2022, 2024), CME (2020), ICFDA (2017), CIMATEN (2014, 2016), HE (2015), and INCER (2013).
